Was macht uns aus?

There are thousands of good interpreters and translators, translation offices and translation agencies. What makes us special? Why should you work with us?

There are certainly many great colleagues with whom we enjoy working and whom we can highly recommend. But as boutique language professionals, we have our special strengths.

We contribute more.

You cannot be a good interpreter or translator without knowing (at least) two languages – but that alone is not enough. You need to master the skills and methods to translate written or spoken language effectively. But that is not quite all, either.

Initiative

Of course we translate accurately into another language. But we can do much more.

When we translate your text, we adapt it to the target audience. Do you want it to be formal? Easy to understand? We will let you know if your examples need to be adapted to the local cultural context – or if we notice something unusual in the original.

The same applies if you are staging a conference, training your workforce, or conducting negotiations. We will alert you to possible technical problems (and suggest solutions!), provide you with advice and support, and, if required, take an active part in the proceedings.

This is how Pavel experiences his work:

It's a great feeling to be not just an interpreter, but also part of the team. In some of my favorite assignments, I was directly involved in the work, helping to conduct training or to acquire new customers. I have worked on the roofs of refrigerated trailers and in power plants, and even received a certificate after a training session on nuclear contraband. Sometimes interpreters should be invisible; sometimes they should be actively involved. It is important to be able to do both and to know when each is appropriate.

We can’t do everything. For languages and topics that we don’t cover, we’ll be happy to recommend colleagues who can do a better job. But when you approach us, you’ll get answers from the people who will actually be doing the work.

We work directly.

Why is it good for you?

Individual.

We call it boutique language services: our services are not generic. What we do is tailored to you and your needs.

Fast.

All information flows directly from you to us and from us to you – without delays or distortions.

Reliable.

You know exactly who will be responsible for the service and can find out in advance whether we are the right fit for you.

Less expensive.

Translation agencies and other intermediaries charge fees on top of the interpreter's fee. You have found us directly and can skip the commission.

We are a team.

Good language professionals are often generalists, able to quickly familiarize themselves with new content and formats. We are no different in this respect. But of course it is better if someone in the team has a thorough knowledge of your subject area. We are both based in Düsseldorf, we both interpret and translate, but we have different areas of specialization.

In Germany and other well-off countries, there are considerable differences in income, wealth, and quality of life. But compared to people in the poorest countries in the world, most of us have so much more that it is hard to imagine the difference. We are richer, healthier, and safer – and we can achieve a lot.

We act.

Many years ago, we committed to donating at least 20% of our income to charity – and at least half of that to organizations that demonstrably do good with the money particularly effectively. And we are transparent. In 2023, a quarter of this amount went to projects fighting poverty and another quarter to climate protection. We donated a further 12% to animal welfare. With approximately 15%, we helped the German fundraising charity Effektiv Spenden to collect more donations.

The last quarter went to Doctors Without Borders. And in addition to this 20% of our profits, we have been donating to charities in Ukraine since 2022.
